Common People: My Only Hope

Nobody can deny the power of a common man, in a country like ours; it’s been a driving force throughout the evolution of India, as the biggest democracy of the world. Today I wait for that power to be my companion in this struggle of my family to bring back my father home. My Father too, is a common man, a teacher who has taught his family to fight for the right whenever the need arises, and simple living high thinking has been his guiding light in life. They say that, “A Teacher is a candle which burns itself to brighten up the lives of others.” My father had risked the future of his family, for the sake of India’s future. He risked his life for the sake of the life which was in danger during the early years of the 90’s. He lit his golden years of life to brighten up the life of his countrymen, having spent 20 precious years of his life in prison for the crime he never attempted.

We understand and do solemnly affirm our faith in India’s constitution and judiciary, but my father didn’t do anything punishable, as he didn’t harm anyone or didn’t break any law. All that he did was an attempt to make the rulers know that the country which they rule is a democracy and it’s their duty to ensure the safety and security of the citizens. He did what Arvind Kejriwal did, He did what Anna Hazare did, He did what Subhash Chandra Bose did, He did what Bhagat Singh did & He did what his conscience asked him to do, while he witnessed the cold blooded murder of humanity in daylight with use of public machinery. That was all he stood against, everyone of us believes that fighting for the right is never wrong, then why my father has to pay such a big price for being right?

I call upon my fellow countrymen to be my help at this hour when a common man is being harassed for a bogus offence; I ask you all to be my strength so that we may fight for right and defeat what’s false and wrong. It has been very well said that nobody should underestimate the power of a common man; this is one such call to show our power to the unruly system. Please be my power to bring back a common man to his home, please be my companion in this fight for justice. Justice for Hari Singh.
