1st DAY @ Janta Darbar

Behind every dark cloud, there is always a silver lining. For us, life has thrown a challenge and we have been facing it bravely. To encourage the fight that we have been battling for so long, today we are blessed with a person who is also fight against corruption, our CM, Arvind Kejriwal. The battle that we have been fighting for so long is oiled for fresh hopes by the new CM.

Banners in hands and determined to raise our voice, my brother, bhabhi and I went to meet the CM at Delhi Secretariat on January 11, 2014. I was shocked to see more than thousand people who also had grievances to share with the CM. However, our hope didn’t flicker. Along with other struggling people, we were standing in a queue for three long hours. Some people were standing on chair and some standing in a line.

The atmosphere was much tensed and I was very anxious all day.  Rhetorical questions stabbed me within that what will happen next, will Arvind Kejriwal look at our file, will justice find its way to us? The bustling all around only created tensions.

Application in hand, we were waiting there since morning and still no sight of Arvind Kejriwal. At around 1, we come to know that the CM left! Hearing this, I broke into tears and my brother and bhabhi tried to stop me.  The area flocked by police, one of them came near to me and politely consoled me saying, “Don’t cry beta, and be strong.” Meanwhile, the media covered our story and my brother shared each and everything with them. This was the first time when so many people from media and other people around stood by us and heard our painful story.

We moved out from the place with one thing-hope, a family’s hope to get back a father soon.
