My
Father Hari Singh comes from a very ordinary background from a small town Bhondsi, located in district Gurgaon, away from its
glittering metropolis of contemporary NCR. He never had king-sized dreams which
couldn’t fit into his modest life & idealistic lifestyle, raised by parents
who had high regards and self-esteem.
He
grew up into a humble young man who knew the skies well but never tried to
leave his footprints on them. He has been a man driven by ethos and love for
humanity & did very well know that humanity is the only faith in world.
Life was going smooth until this man of principles witnessed a national trauma by the end of year 1992, and couldn’t bear the pain of loss
India was left to suffer from, entire country was burning in the communal fire,
and what security forces did as part of relief practices was scanty enough to
spark an ire amongst the true sons of soil. India’s safety & security was
on stake and the citizens were left to watch it fade into ashes.
Who
stands & watches when the home is burning? Things my father did were just
to extinguish the fire our country was burning into, it was neither for a
political motive nor for the sake of being a popular social activist who could
boast of his achievements later in life and reap uneven and undue benefits out
of it. Hari Singh did what was best according to
him, if one could only respect his motive and intention.
To
me it’s a great honour that I am his child, when I look at the bravado he had
shown in standing up against corruption prevalent in the country. He echoed a Satyagraha which the nation needed badly in
those hard times of fallacy & injustice on a mass level. Fighting for a
national interest should not be equated with crime with entrapment of legal
definitions of the acts done.
Having
imparted his value based education to students whom he taught while as a
teacher, he had become famous as an idealistic person in the vicinity, his fame
grew good with passing years, and grew his family expenses which forced him to
take up a slightly commercial job in a freight forwarding company, having made
some deposits he started a small business and got busy with life and its
everyday challenges. 1992’s end
saw riots broking out in the country and it awakened the conscience of my
father, after which he decided to act reasonably in order to safeguard the
interests of country. All he did was just for the sake of nation, and here we
are, asking the nation to help the patriot in my father, who has been living a
painful life away from the family he always placed next to nation. We request
you to be his guardian in his crusade against corruption, help us so that we
may help him.
