As our country gained freedom our leaders dreamt
of a place “where the mind was without fear and the head was held high “but as
the times went by the mind was occupied by suspicion and mistrust for the
system and our heads hung in shame at the antics and greed of the ones in the
positions of power. As the system turned murkier and politics was dominated by
the criminals the dreams and aspirations of the common man were shattered,
crushed and badly mutilated. The frustrations and grievances of the
man on the streets were met with deaf ears. The demons of power were slowly
eating into the system making it hollow and rickety.
One man frustrated with
the system and having completely lost faith went to the extreme of what some
politically correct termed as a “criminal offence”. What Hari Singh did, may not be the best possible
solution but it was a desperate attempt by a commoner to be heard and noticed.
The idea behind
hijacking a plane was not to harm anybody but to be conspicuous to a system
that was blind and deaf. Even the execution of the idea was not easy for
the man who was jobless and carrying the responsibility of his entire family on
his shoulders. A man who could barely manage to arrange two square meals for
his family sold his wife’s lone piece of jewellery to get a plane ticket. The
urge to stir up the system was so high that he did not even think of the
consequences that his actions would bring about. Keeping his personal
interest and goals at the back shelf he set out to accomplish the impossible
and landed up in ruining his family life and career.
Hari Singh was arrested, tried and
sent to the prison. His family silently suffered for years. His children spent
their childhood without the patronage of a father. After all these years his sufferings
should come to an end. He fought for a better life. Why not give it to him now?
The four walls of the prison are for the hardcore criminals not for a common
man who dreamt for a better life.
This is sad! He is a real fighter..
