The Teacher of Values

A  Teacher is the candle which burns itself to give light to others; a teacher bears the moral responsibility of imparting values & ethics to the students so that they may build up an ideal society. A teacher’s life is often an example for others and something towards which our society looks with respect; this makes academics a respectable profession in the contemporary world.

An ordinary teacher hailing from an ordinary background bearing the same old ordinary dreams of making a bright future and living a good life with his family fell victim to the corruption existing in the system, and has been paying  quite a big price for his ordinary insight for an extra-ordinary nationalism. What Hari Singh did was not just a plight of insanity but an insight of humanity which couldn’t convince him to accept what all was happening to the country.

He took the extraordinary steps to assure himself about the safety and security of the ordinary Indian, he realized his responsibility towards the nation we call as motherland, and he didn’t compromise with the security of his fellow countrymen. He tried to bring about an end to the corruption, inequality and despair which had overwhelmed his motherland; he succeeded in delivering his message because his values had undergone the negation in atmosphere & his principles didn’t fall apart.

Hari Singh has been an ideal for his society since people have known him.  The very day he became a teacher, he realized the meaning of being able to teach and the importance of imparting value based education. Principles are of no use if they aren’t utilized for the welfare, and they became hollow with time if no purpose is served which could benefit the humanity, after all who uses a blunt knife in kitchen? Hari Singh’s life was going smooth until March of 1993 approached, and he was to stand a test of time, a test of his patience, a test of his morality, a test of his own integrity, & a test of his love for motherland. He stood against the poison which was being injected in the arteries of society, since he was an ambitious patriot, who was always ready to serve, he took some revolutionary steps for which he is bearing the punishment today, but it’s more important that he answered the call of humanity which nobody else dared to attend.  He did what he believed was correct because he had been a man of values, away from the hurdles of right doing and wrongdoing. He can’t suffer because of being a value based man, that isn’t humanity. He needs justice and we should stand with him in this fight for his right. Justice for Hari Singh.
